Poltava, 11 October 2018 – Today, representatives of the Poltava Petroleum Company (PPC) took part in the Second Industry Forum entitled “Social Partnership”, which was dedicated to the issue of cooperation between gas companies and local authorities. Moreover, PPC was a partner of the event.
PPC was represented by legal adviser of the company Lyudmila Khomich. Ms. Khomich devoted her presentation to environmental monitoring as an expression of the social responsibility of gas producing companies. The legal adviser shared three main principles on which PPC’s environmental ethics are based, including consideration of environmental factor in the decision-making process on the use of natural resources, creation of a single conceptual space within the framework of the PPC’s activities on streamlining gas production, and development cooperation with local authorities for strengthening efforts towards environmental conservation.
Based on these principles, PPC translated practical steps in action by successfully implementing a monitoring system of groundwater and surface water, soil, biodiversity during the full cycle of works in the areas of operation. Moreover, the company manages to effectively implement the component of cooperation with authorities, in particular regarding development of environmental infrastructure together with territorial communities, as well as providing the State Environmental Monitoring System with necessary information.
On behalf of PPC Lyudmila Khomich thanked for participation in the Forum and expressed support for measures to develop and strengthen the cooperation between gas companies and community representatives.
