Kyiv, November 7, 2019 – Poltava Petroleum Company (PPC) initiates the creation of an object of natural reserve fund – the reserve of local importance “Svitlivschina”. This was announced by Lyudmila Khomich, the legal adviser of PPC, during the conference “Environmental diagnosis and recipe for recovery for business in Ukraine: looking for solutions”, which was held at the International Exhibition Center of Kiev as part of the exhibition “Ecology of the Enterprise”. To join the discussion the organizers of the event invited experts, representatives of government and business, who directly implement environmental tasks at their own enterprises.
Lyudmila Khomich presented the initiative of the company to create a preserved fund, which became possible as a result of long-lasting monitoring studies of PPCs. The company found that meadow-wetlands in the vicinity of the village of Svitlivshchina are unique migration routes and a nesting environment for birds. That is why the company initiated the creation of a natural reserve fund to preserve the unique natural environment of this territory. As a result of the proper cooperation of the PPC with the local community, scientific and state institutions there was launched a project, which is a vivid example of the result of the interaction between business, public science, and the state.
In general, with the involvement of representatives of scientific institutions, over the course of 10 years, PPC discovered about 15 unique biodiversity units that represent unique geobotanical, cenotic, floristic and faunistic aspects.
We thank the organizers of the event for the opportunity to join an excellent event and to present the project of our company.
